How old do you have to be to rent a car in Uganda?
Wondering how old you have to be to rent a car in Uganda? The legal age to drive a car in Uganda is 18 yrs. However car rental companies in Uganda demand that you are at least 23yrs to hire a vehicle for self-drive in Uganda.
Generally, the age limit for car hire in Uganda is between 23 – 75 years of age. At Techsys Autos, we make some exceptions with saloon car rental and offer self drive to renters of 20 years and above.
There is no age restriction for car rental with a driver. However if your are below the age of 18, you will need to ask your parent or guardian to rent a car in Uganda with a driver for you as minors are not allowed to reserve car rental in Uganda.
Its also worth noting that for self drive you need an old driving permit. In Uganda insurance companies hardly compensate fully in case of accident with new drivers. For this reason we ask that your driver license must be at least 2 years old.
