The Distance and Routes.
Its approximately 44Kms (27.34 Miles) from Entebbe international Airport to Kampala City Square. By private saloon car rental, Uber, Bolt or airport taxi, the journey takes approximately 45 minutes via express highway or 1 hour through the old Entebbe – Kampala highway.
The most preferred route for Airport transfer is via the Kampala – Entebbe Express highway. This is mainly because the less traffic on that road will allow your driver keep time so you arrive to your destination on time.
When you choose this route, you will have to meet extra fees in toll fees. Starting 2022, government of Uganda instituted a mandatory single use toll fee of 5000 UGX on all saloon cars. The fee is a single use so your driver will have to pay again on their way back.
If you are planing on getting from Entebbe Airport to Kampala via the old Entebbe Kampala Highway, you could cut on the cost a bit but the road is more prone to heavey traffic jam. Its advisable that you only use this route if you have an extra hour to spend in case you meet traffic along this road.
Your driver should also have a few other routes to choose from even though the above are the most used. Other available options include Entebbe- Kajansi – Munyonyo to Kampala. There is also Entebbe – Kajansi – Munyonyo – Salama Rd to Kampala among others. Your driver should use their local knowledge to advise on the most suited alternative should the first two be less suited.
